Labor Ministry to enforce supplementary regulation on migrant workers

Department of Employment Director-General Varanon Peetiwan said the supplementary regulation involving the management of migrant workers employment will have employers take responsibility for the repatriating of their migrant workers upon the end of their employment and report such matters to the government. 

The supplementary rule will allow the government to have updated information regarding migrant workers and will give legal migrant workers more freedom to work in areas provided with their work permits. 

It will also promote cooperation between government agencies and private companies for better efficiency in the management of migrant workers. 

The Department of Employment will hold a seminar on the new law on 5 July 2017 at the Ministry of Labor headquarters. 

Related persons such as business owners, NGOs, academics, government agencies, and private companies will be invited to discuss regarding the supplementary rule.
