VOV.VN - A ceremony was held at the martyr cemetery of Ngoc Hoi district in Kon Tum province on June 10 to re-bury remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives during international missions in Laos and Cambodia.
The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts had been excavated and repatriated by Team K53 in the 2022-2023 dry season in Laos and Cambodia.
Addressing the ceremony, Y Ngoc, deputy head of the Kon Tum provincial administration, expressed local people’s gratitude to the volunteer soldiers and experts who had bravely fought and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and international solidarity and friendship.
“Your sacrifices had contributed to liberating Laos from the invaders and Cambodia from the genocidal regime, symbolizing immortality,” said Ngoc.
“Your sacrifices will forever go down in history and keep up the spirit of pure and faithful international solidarity between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia,” she went on to say.
At the ceremony, local officials, military officers and people offered flowers and incense to show their respect for the heroic martyrs.
