Kon Tum hit by further mild quakes

VOV.VN - Two consecutive earthquakes have hit Kon Plong district in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum during the past 24 hours, according to the latest information provided by the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Centre of the Institute of Geophysics.

The first earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 11:24 p.m. on September 14 at a depth of around 8.1 kilometres.

Further tremors were felt when a magnitude 3.8 earthquake took place at 10:40 a.m. on September 15, with its epicentre being 8.1 kilometres underground.

Fortunately the earthquakes did not pose any disaster risk, the centre said, adding that it would continue to observe related developments.

Since the beginning of the year Kon Plong has experienced dozens of quakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.4 to 4.7 on the Richter scale, all of which were weak and moderate, causing no danger.
