KinderWorld pupils continue to excel

In addition to drawing upon the finest aspects of the Singaporean curriculum, KinderWorld also embraces social responsibility and eastern values through its activities that have a positive impact on the local environment, as well as on communities and its stakeholders in Vietnam.

Founded in 1986 in Singapore, KinderWorld Education Group operates 16 campuses under brand names of Singapore International School (SIS), KinderWorld International Kindergarten (KIK), Singapore Vietnam International School (SVIS), and Pegasus International College (PIC) in Vietnam, as well as Pegasus International School in Malaysia.

In Vietnam, KinderWorld has earned a sterling reputation in the international education market, providing a high quality and holistic education programme for students to gain admission into universities across the world. Its campuses provide international and integrated education for students, ranging from the pre-nursery level to the its university foundation programme. It also provides higher and continuing education in Hanoi and Danang.

“We are proud to announce that many of our SIS students have won scholarships (including ASEAN scholarships) to continue their education in well-established educational institutions and universities in America, Australia, Singapore and Switzerland,” said Ricky Tan, CEO of KinderWorld.

As a result of their tuition in KinderWorld schools, many students have achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) university foundation programme and scored in the top echelon of students in Southeast Asia. Do Hoang Viet and Nguyen Hong Nhung from SIS Cau Giay were placed on the President’s List for Berkeley College (US) for outstanding academic achievement with a perfect GPA of 4.0.

The foundation president of Alumni Association is Minh Nguyen, an alumnus of SIS  Cau Giay, Hanoi, achieved  9.0 IELTS score and is enrolled in engineering at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

In 2012, Tran Hoai Thanh was awarded with the Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives top award in Vietnam, while in the Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives for 2013, Ngo Nam Son won an Outstanding Cambridge learner award.

Since 2011, Singapore International Schools have nominated outstanding students to attend Youth Leader Conference in Singapore to enhance their leadership skills through exposing them to both school-based and community-based problems.

This year, five students including Tran My Hien, Hoang Minh Thu, Nguyen Minh Nghia, Nguyen Hoang Minh Khoa and Michael Ong Ee Wei  from SIS at Saigon South attended the event.

Since 2009, KinderWorld and the Hwa Chong Institution from Singapore have continuously co-hosted the Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS) with the first round in Vietnam and finals in Singapore.

The event is a prestigious opportunity for students in the Asia-Pacific region to interact and compete with other top students in mathematics. In 2015, the first round of APMOPS in Vietnam attracted more than 500 students from schools in Hanoi, Haiphong, Danang, Ho Chi Minh City, and various provinces.

Every year, students at SIS have option to go on a study tour to Malaysia and Singapore. Here, students are shown many places of natural beauty and have the chance to immerse themselves in the culture of these two regional neighbours.

SIS students also welcome their peers from the Hwa Chong Institution – Singapore who visit Vietnam on a cultural exchange that takes place both in the classroom and through their homestay experience.

Apart from such practical and dynamic education programmes, KinderWorld also embraces social responsibility. Students are encouraged to participate in annual charitable activities such as the “Christmas Fair” and “Night of the Arts” which form an integral part of the school curriculum. Funds raised through these activities support charities like “Operation Smile” which provides reconstructive facial surgery to children and young adults born with facial deformities.

These funds also provide much-needed support for handicapped children at the Thuy An Rehabilitation Centre.

Since 2013 KinderWorld has been a Gold Sponsor of the “Swing for Kids Charity Golf Tournament” organised by the Vietnam Investment Review and the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment. To date, the group has awarded 108 scholarships worth VND972 million ($45,000).

This year Pegasus awarded 36 “Dream to Reality” scholarships worth VND324 million ($15,000) to economically disadvantaged students in Hanoi, Danang, and the surrounding provinces.

The goal is to provide technical training through fundamental culinary training and hands-on experience at Pegasus International College. This training primes students for a satisfying career in the hospitality industry and gives them the skills to gain employment anywhere in the world.
