JICA to provide Vietnam with 1,600 cooler boxes for COVID-19 vaccine storage

VOV.VN - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is set to supply Vietnam with 1,600 cooler boxes used for COVID-19 vaccine storage with temperature monitoring devices to support the transportation of vaccines to injection sites.

The aid package proposed by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology costs JPY100 million and is channeled through the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The shipment is scheduled to be handed over to the Vietnamese side in September.

The cooler boxes fitted with a monitoring device will help store COVID-19 vaccines at temperatures between two and eight degrees Celsius. Their main goal is to assist the process of transporting vaccines from storage facilities to injection places throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the largest of its kind in history, aiming to inoculate 75 million people or 70% of the population between July 2021 and April 2022.
