Japanese team wins ABU Robocon champion
(VOV) - The Japanese team has become the ABU Robocon champions. Vietnam 1 has won second prize while Vietnam 2 and Indonesia have shared third prize.
The results were unveiled at the closing ceremony of the 2013 Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest (ABU Robocon) held in Da Nang city on August 18.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized that to master scientific knowledge and apply advanced technologies in the fastest manner, young students should become the vanguard of social renovations. He urged them to study harder to fulfill their mission in the future.
The Deputy PM added that the Government of Vietnam always pays special attention to developing education and training as well as science and technology in the hope of becoming one of the leading member countries in the field of science and technology by 2020.
The ABU Robocon has offered an intellectual playing field for young talents and given fresh impetus to developing science and technology in Vietnam in particular and the region in general as the Asia-Pacific is becoming the world’s most dynamic region.
At the closing ceremony, Vietnam Television presented the flag to a representative of India which will host the 2014 ABU Robocon under the theme of “family” with the aim of promoting the importance of family relations.
This year’s event, themed “Green Planet”, involved 19 best teams from 18 nations and territories around the globe. Two Vietnamese teams from HCM City-based Lac Hong University entered the final round.
