Japanese firm's design selected for HCM city administrative hub
Ho Chi Minh City government has selected a design by Nikken Sekkei Ltd., a Japanese architecture firm, for the city’s new downtown administrative hub.
The new complex will occupy an area of more than 18,000 square meters surrounded by Le Thanh Ton, Pasteur, Ly Tu Trong and Dong Khoi streets in District 1. The project's height will be capped at 30 meters.

The building will house eight municipal agencies, including the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Departments of Interior, Information and Communications, Industry and Trade, Transport, and Natural Resources and Environment, with around 1,700 public servants.
The old French colonial hotel that currently houses the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the city legislature will be preserved and linked to the new center.
The existing offices of the city Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Industry and Trade, located at 59-61 Ly Tu Trong Street, will also be preserved.
