Japan helps upgrade equipment for national population database center
VOV.VN - Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, on November 15 signed a diplomatic note for a project worth JPY500 million to upgrade the national population database center.
Through the project, part of Japan’s non-refundable aid program, the Japanese government will provide servers and storage equipment from Japanese companies to support the system upgrade, contributing to Vietnam’s digital transformation.
Ambassador Naoki commended Vietnam for progress it has made in digitization in in recent years, saying further promoting digital transformation in society has become one of the country’s top priorities, especially since Party General Secretary To Lam outlined the strategic direction for the country to enter a new era.
“We believe that the donation of materials and equipment to the national population database center will provide a significant opportunity for Vietnam to reform and aim for development in this new era,” emphasized the diplomat.
According to the Ambassador, Japan is honoured to contribute to Vietnam’s reform efforts through specific steps of cooperation based on the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
“We look forward to further strengthening our cooperation,” said the diplomat.
The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam made debut the national population database center in August 2020. This is the largest information technology initiative in Vietnam, transforming the management of citizens from traditional methods to a new approach that leverages science and technology.
Upgrading the centre’s information technology system is a pressing requirement as it helps manage information effectively, ensure the safety of citizens’ personal information, and allow for the integration and sharing of information from various sources. A modern information system will improve the quality of public services, facilitating easier access for citizens to information and services.
