ISchool food poisoning: hundreds of pupils recovering
VOV.VN - Hundreds of ISchool Nha Trang suffering food poisoning infections have passed the stage of disease severity and only two are relying on intensive care treatment, according to an official of the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.
Dr. Vuong Anh Duong, deputy head of the Medical Examination and Treatment Department, said about 200 pupils and several teachers are receiving treatment at seven healthcare facilities, including 85 given treatment at Khanh Hoa provincial General Hospital.
Most patients are recovering as they have no longer shown clinical symptoms of food poisoning infections such as fatigue, vomiting, fever, and diarrhea, Duong said on November 22, adding only two teenagers, 11 and 16, are still receiving intensive care treatment.
More than 600 pupils of ISchool Nha Trang, an international school in Nha Trang city, central Vietnam, were hospitalized for food poisoning treatment after taking lunch on November 17. Notably, one of them passed away due to serious illness.
The Ministry of Health dispatched professionals and doctors of Bach Mai Hospital from Hanoi to Nha Trang to assist local hospitals with treatment.
Initial tests show the fried chicken wings provided had been contaminated with Salmonella, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus cereus bacteria.
ISchool Nha Trang is part of the ISchool system that offers pupils the opportunity to study in an international integration environment in Vietnam. Besides Nha Trang, the system has also developed schools in Ho Chi Minh City, and provinces of Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan, Long An, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and An Giang.
