Sharing her impressions while visiting Hanoi with her husband during the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Yoon Jeongim, a tourist from the Republic of Korea, said she was genuinely surprised by the capital’s vibrant and dignified appearance.

“From the moment we arrived in Hanoi, we saw red flags with yellow stars, banners and posters displayed along many streets. The atmosphere is very solemn and full of vitality,” Yoon said.

According to her, Hanoi’s streets have been neatly arranged and kept clean, while lighting and urban decorations have been upgraded in a coordinated manner, creating a civilized and modern cityscape. This distinct atmosphere, she noted, prompted her and her husband to become curious and actively learn more about the political event taking place in Vietnam.

“We translated and looked into the information shown on banners and slogans across the city and learned that Vietnam is hosting the 14th National Party Congress, a very important political event for your country,” the Korean tourist said.

Through her research, Yoon said she learned that the congress plays a decisive role in setting major orientations and electing a new leadership apparatus to continue guiding Vietnam’s development in the coming period.

“I believe this is an important milestone that will contribute to Vietnam’s continued development,” she said.

On this occasion, Yoon and her husband extended their congratulations to the country and people of Vietnam, wishing the 14th National Party Congress success. “We are very happy to witness this special atmosphere and would like to congratulate Vietnam,” she added.

Experiencing solemn atmosphere of the congress

Sharing similar impressions while visiting Vietnam for the first time during the 14th National Party Congress, Associate Professor Dr. Ekaterina Krasikova, a Russian scientist, expressed her surprise at the dynamic political and social atmosphere, particularly the solemn ambience seen throughout Hanoi.

Traveling to Vietnam with her husband and three children, Krasikova said she had been unaware that the country was entering a major political event. It was only upon arriving in Hanoi that she sensed the special atmosphere, with flowers, flags, banners and posters decorating streets across the city.

“We were truly surprised. Everywhere we went, Hanoi was beautifully decorated, creating a very distinctive feeling,” she said.

According to Krasikova, being in Vietnam at the time of the 14th National Party Congress was a fortunate experience for her family. Based on her observations and understanding, she said organizing such a congress to convene, discuss, review and outline directions for major national issues is necessary and important for any country.

“I believe political events like this are significant for every nation, not only Vietnam. They provide an opportunity to look back on past achievements, discuss key issues and adopt decisions aimed at the future,” she said.

The views shared by international visitors and scholars show that the 14th National Party Congress has drawn attention not only from officials, Party members and the public at home, but also from international friends living, working and traveling in Vietnam, thus contributing to broader awareness of Vietnam’s stability, reform process and development.
