Intellectual Women’s contributions to socio-economic development praised

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women has gradually demonstrated its core role in uniting and promoting the creativity of female intellectuals, contributing to national socio-economic development, as well as to the activities of the conference of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists-Asia and Pacific Nation Network (INWES-APNN).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the remarks during a meeting with delegates attending the conference of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists-Asia and Pacific Nation Network (INWES-APNN) and leaders of the Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women under the Vietnam Women's Union.

After 13 years of operation, the Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women has grown both in terms of quantity and quality, competently performing its assigned political tasks as a contribution to the nation's socio-economic development.

The association has gathered and attracted nearly 6,000 members from 12 provinces and cities, 31 research institutes, universities, government agencies, state-owned, and private enterprises.

It has launched numerous diverse activities aimed at promoting its strengths, as well as the role of female intellectuals in scientific research, thereby contributing to the cause of national socio-economic development. This has been done while actively engaging in social security, charity, humanitarian activities, and enhancing both international relations and co-operation.

In his address, the Vietnamese Government leader appreciated the INWES-APNN Conference, which is held annually on a rotational basis among countries, thereby affirming the interest of countries and territories in creating a common forum for outstanding female scientists.

This event not only serves to connect and share knowledge and experience, but also to affirm the important role of female scientists and engineers in solving urgent problems of humanity, the region, and each country. In addition, it contributes to the sustainable development and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the whole world.

In particular, the 2024 Regional Network Conference hosted by the Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women in Hanoi serves as a vivid demonstration of the proactive international co-operation in science and technology of Vietnamese intellectual women.

The event is even more meaningful as the nation has just organised the National Innovation Day 2024, he went on to say.

The Government leader therefore affirmed that the Vietnamese Government highly values and is keen to strengthen international linkages in research, transfer, and the application of modern technology for national development.

The Vietnamese Government offers all favourable conditions for intellectuals, including female intellectuals, to maximise their capacity and enthusiasm whilst participating in start-up and innovation activities through continuing to improve mechanisms and policies; investing heavily in scientific and technological research, infrastructure for green transformation, and digital transformation. This is along with prioritising financial resources, focusing on training high-quality human resources, improving modern management capacity for scientific and technological research and development; as well as encouraging creativity and application of science and technology in production and life.

On this occasion, the Government chief thanked and expressed hope that the International Network of Women Scientists and Engineers would continue to pay attention, closely co-ordinate with, and share experience with Vietnam.

This is in addition to connecting and offering conditions for Vietnamese female intellectuals to access, learn, and have the opportunity to work, exchange, and co-operate with experts, scientists, and high-tech enterprises from countries around the world. Other efforts include supporting technology transfer; human resource training; improving management capacity; as well as building institutions, mechanisms, and policies.
