Independence, Friendship orders honour Laos’s transport ministry

The Independence Order and Friendship Order of Vietnam were presented to collectives and individuals at the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport on October 6 for their outstanding contributions to transport cooperation between the two countries.

At the ceremony in Vientiane, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, presented the Independence Order (first class) to the Lao ministry. The same order (second and third class) was also bestowed upon four collectives and five individuals who are officials and ex-officials of the ministry. 

They were honoured for their exceptional contribution to the reinforcement of the countries’ traditional amity and special solidarity. 

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Friendship Order was given to five officials of the Lao ministry by Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho. 

Lao Minister Bounchan Sinthavong said it was their honour to receive the Orders and thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for supporting his ministry. 

He pledged to continue solidifying the countries’ friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, particularly in transport, thereby promoting their nations’ development, transport connectivity and economic integration into the region and the world. 

Earlier the same day, Deputy PM Dung, who was on a working visit to Laos, visited the Embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in the country.

He is scheduled to leave Laos later on the day.
