IFAD to expand operations in Vietnam

(VOV) -President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Kanayo Nwanze has described Vietnam’s achievements in poverty reduction and rural development as a role model for developing nations in Africa.
At a recent reception for Vietnamese ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien who is Vietnam’s permanent representative to IFAD, Nwanze said he was impressed with Vietnam’s development in recent years.
He expressed his wish that the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy will support IFAD’s initiative to hold a meeting of ASEAN countries’ ambassadors in Rome in 2016.
Ambassador Thien in turn hailed Vietnam’s achievements in rural development and poverty reduction and pledged to promote relations between ASEAN and IFAD.
He thanked IFAD for its assistance for Vietnam over the past years, reiterating the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to poverty alleviation and rural development.
