Hundreds of Vietnamese rescued from ‘easy job, high pay’ scam in Cambodia

VOV.VN - Police of Dong Nai province reported on March 24 they had received 344 Vietnamese citizens handed over by Cambodian authorities after falling victim to so-called “easy job, high pay” scams.

Most of the victims had traveled to Cambodia seeking work but were lured by fraudulent job offers promising high wages and light workloads. Upon arrival, they faced coercion, labour exploitation, and difficult living conditions. All expressed a desire to return home.

The individuals were detained during a recent crime crackdown by Cambodian law enforcement. Vietnamese authorities conducted initial screening and launched investigations in accordance with the law. During this process, four of the individuals were identified as wanted under arrest warrants issued by police in various Vietnamese provinces and cities.

Dong Nai police and the provincial Border Guard have urged the public to remain vigilant and carefully verify information before seeking work or travelling abroad for employment. Authorities warned people not to trust enticing offers circulating on social media to avoid falling victim to increasingly sophisticated transnational crime schemes.
