Hue tightens COVID-19 control on returnees from Da Nang hotspot

VOV.VN - Local authorities in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue have conducted swift novel coronavirus (COVID-19) tests for all residents who have returned from Da Nang since July.

The medical facilities sees both dormitory and residential areas closely controlled, with local people filling out a medical declaration upon arrival before carrying out rapid COVID-19 tests.

Provincial authorities urge local residents to wear face masks when venturing outside their homes and going to public areas. In addition, the local trade sector is required to ensure there is a sufficient supply of essential goods while also informing people not to stockpile.

In a healthcare station in Phu Cat ward, residents who returned from Da Nang in July have samples taken for quick COVID-19 tests.

Phan Ngoc Tho, chairman of the provincial administration, says that strong actions should be taken to curb the further spread of the COVID-19. The province is considering putting social distancing measures in place if the situation worsens.

Thua Thien-Hue shares a border with Da Nang, so the tourism industry is set to be greatly affected due to tourists cancelling tours, leaving local streets and relic sites extremely quiet.

Ten days previously, crowds of tourists had flocked to visit relic sites throughout Hue, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the majority of the city’s places of interest now left being deserted.
