Honda presents 37,000 helmets to school children

VOV.VN - Honda Vietnam has presented a total of 36,882 helmets to first and second graders in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in the 2022-2023 academic year.

This drive is part of a programme launched by the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) and the Honda Vietnam Company with the aim of delivering 200,000 helmets to motorists across the country.

The scheme, now in its fourth year, has been implemented after the success of the 2018 - 2020 period. It aims to raise the awareness about observing traffic rules on wearing helmets when riding motorbikes and electric bicycles among the public in general, and children in particular.

According to statistics compiled by NTSC, the wearing of standard helmets has played an important role in reducing the number of traffic accident fatalities to less than 9,000 people per year.

Through the national strategy for ensuring road traffic order and safety in the 2021 - 2030 period with a vision towards 2045, Vietnam plans to reduce the number of fatalities caused by road traffic accident to zero by 2050.
