Ho Chi Minh City suspends high-speed boat services to Con Dao due to Typhoon Wipha

VOV.VN - Due to the impact of Typhoon Wipha, Ho Chi Minh City has ordered the temporary suspension of two high-speed boat routes between the mainland and Con Dao Special Zone in a bid to ensure the safety of both passengers and vehicles.

The suspension is in effect from July 22 to July 25, and services are expected to resume on July 26, depending on the weather conditions.

The affected routes include the Vung Tau - Con Dao service operated by Phu Quoc Express and the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao service operated by Phu Quy Express.

Passengers with tickets for affected travel dates will be offered a full 100% refund or the option to reschedule their tickets for alternative dates in either July or August.

The suspension of high-speed boat routes is part of the urgent direction issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in response to Typhoon Wipha which is current slamming into northern and north-central localities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22.

Meanwhile, flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city in the north are expected to resume at 2:00 p.m. on July 22, after Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh and Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong were temporarily closed until noon the same day due to the impact of the typhoon.

Aviation authorities asked airports and airlines to closely monitor the developments of the typhoon in the coming hours to come up with appropriate schedule adjustment.

Passengers are advised to stay informed about potential delays and cancellations as many domestic and international flights on July 22 may be impacted by Typhoon Wipha.
