For the time being, the Search and Rescue Department on May 26 requested that the Ministry of National Defense direct Corps 18 to deploy a helicopter to coordinate with forces on the scene in the search and rescue operation for the missing victims.

The cargo ship Cong Thanh 07 operated by Thinh Thanh Transport JSc in Thai Binh province sank approximately 9 nautical miles off Vung Ang Port, Ha Tinh province, on May 25 evening. The vessel was en route from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh when it experienced engine failure and subsequently capsized.

There were 11 crew members on board. Before the ship sank, they managed to put on life jackets and jumped into the sea.

As of May 26 morning, a fishing boat rescued the deputy captain of the distressed vessel drifting at sea. The remaining 10 crew members are still missing.

Currently, three vessels - SAR 631, Coast Guard 1011, and Grand Family 56 - are actively combing through the area in the search and rescue operation. However, the operation is being hampered by severe weather, including heavy rain, strong winds and big waves.

The Border Guard Command of Ha Tinh province has notified the authorities of Quang Binh province to coordinate efforts, as the missing crew members may have drifted toward the bordering sea areas.

Authorities continue to intensify their efforts in hopes of finding the remaining missing sailors as soon as possible.
