Heavy rain, tornado damage hundreds of houses in Dak Lak

VOV.VN - Extreme weather has wreaked havoc in Ea Sup district of the Central Highland province of Dak Lak on May 9, with one person dying after being struck by lightning, while heavy rains and a tornado destroyed hundreds of houses and many hectares of subsidiary crops.

The tornado also unroofed some projects of the head offices of Cu M’lan and Ea Bung communal People’s Committees and caused four electricity poles to collapse.

Pham Van Phuong, 30, residing in Ea Bing commune, died after being struck by lightning.

Nguyen Dinh Toan, vice chairman of Ea Sup district People’s Committee, says the People’s Committee has coordinated with relevant agencies, soldiers, police, and other forces to help the local people to recover from the consequences of the natural disaster.

Earlier, on April 13, a hailstorm and tornado hit Ea Sup district, resulting in injuries to three people, unroofing more than 600 houses, and damaging thousands of hectares of winter-spring rice crops.
