Heart hospital goes into lockdown as COVID-19 cases are detected

VOV.VN - A heart hospital in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has been locked down after a cluster of seven coronavirus infections were detected linked to the hospital.

The two-week lockdown order took effect as of 05.00pm on September 28, according to a decision signed by the centrally-run city’s leadership.

The hospital will continue to treat inpatients but temporarily stop accepting outpatients for medical examination and treatment. All emergency cases and outpatients will be transferred to other hospitals in the locality.

Health authorities have isolated seven people for medical surveillance and treatment after they tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Of these F0 cases, two are technical and housekeeping staff of the hospital, and the remaining five are in Ninh Kieu district.

The authorities have also tracked down 26 people who came into contact with the F0 cases.

Can Tho city has recorded 5,609 COVID-19 cases since the recurrence of the virus in late April. Of the total, 4,636 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.

Nearly 350,000 local people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, of whom 52,800 have received their second dose.
