Health Ministry reports nearly 5,000 new COVID-19 cases on July 30 morning
VOV.VN - A further 4,992 fresh positive cases of COVID-19, including five imported ones, were confirmed by the Ministry of Health on July 30 morning, bringing the national tally to 133,405.
Of the 4,987 domestic infections, Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current biggest epicenter of the virus, reported the highest number of local infections at 2,740, followed by Binh Duong with 1,284, Tien Giang with 242, Dong Nai with 203, Dong Thap with 90, Tay Ninh with 88, Ben Tre with 79, Khanh Hoa with 78, Hanoi with 63, Can Tho with 23, and Long An with 21, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Kien Giang with 17 each, and Vinh Long with 15.
Thai Nguyen, Dak Nong, Ha Tinh, Lang Son and Nam Dinh reported single-digit infections.
Among the new cases, 987 were recorded in the community and the remainders in isolation or lockdown areas.
With the latest additions, Vietnam has so far counted 131,192 domestic cases, including 129,622 detected in the latest coronavirus wave that hit the nation in late April.
The five latest imported cases raised the overall number of imported infections to 2,213.
One day earlier, the nation registered close to 7,600 active coronavirus cases, with Ho Chi Minh City and the southern province of Binh Duong accounted the most at 4,592 and 1,144
More than 5.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered throughout the nation, with over 4.9 million people getting one dose, and close to 550,000 people receiving full two doses.
According to Ho Chi Minh City authorities, as many as 650 teams are conducting vaccination schemes across the city, with around 70,000-80,000 doses being vaccinated a day amid strict social distancing measures.

Also in the morning the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that 159 COVID-19 deaths were recorded over the past three days from July 27-29 in 8 localities, with HCM City taking the most at 132.
As such, the fatality count in the nation has so far stood at 1,022 since the start of the pandemic early last year.
