Health Ministry receives COVID-19 support package from Saudi Arabia

VOV.VN - Representatives from the Ministry of Health on August 5 received a medical aid package worth US$500,000 on August 5 from Saudi Arabia as a contribution to the country’s ongoing COVID-19 battle.

Deputy Health Minister Truong Quoc Cuong expressed his gratitude for the valuable support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has been hugely significant to Vietnamese people during this challenging period.

The Ministry of Health pledges to use the gift in an effective manner in the ongoing fight against the pandemic, Cuong said.

Cuong highlighted the drastic and effective measures taken by the Saudi Arabian Government to successfully contain the COVID-19 pandemic. He went on to say that the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the Middle Eastern country has been vigorously carried out, thereby making Saudi Arabia one of the leading countries in terms of vaccination rates

In response, Wibar Abdullah I.Albaseer, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Vietnam, revealed that the medical aid package given to the Vietnamese Government and people is part of the Middle Eastern nation’s US$500 million budget to contribute to international efforts in the global battle against the pandemic.

He added that the aid package for Vietnam has been sent through the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief.
