Health Ministry plans third phase of measles vaccination campaign

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) has requested that the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institutes plan the third phase of the measles vaccination campaign this year, focusing on high-risk areas.

The initiative seeks to increase community immunity, proactively prevent outbreaks, and reduce measles-related morbidity and mortality.

The MoH has also asked that relevant units review children aged 11 to 15 who have not received the full two doses of the measles.

Statistics show Vietnam has recorded more than 76,000 cases of measles and 10 deaths since the beginning of the year, including over 4,100 infections and two deaths last week alone.

The Northern region witnessed the highest number of cases, while other regions showed a stable trend.

The age of onset of the disease has begun to change by age groups following the vaccination campaign.

Compared to the first three months of this year, the group aged one to 10 decreased by 6%, while the group aged above 10 showed a slight increase of 6.4%.

Up to now, 52 out of 54 provinces and cities have reached the vaccination rate of more than 95%, while the remaining localities have achieved between 90% and under 95%.
