HCM City seeks greater development contributions from OV entrepreneurs

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City expects to continue receiving recommendations from Vietnamese entrepreneurs abroad regarding solutions for the southern city’s further development.

Nguyen Ho Hai, vice secretary of the municipal Party Committee, made the statement at a conference on Resolution 98/2023/QH15 piloting special mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City, which officially took effect on August 1, with overseas Vietnamese (OV) entrepreneurs.

Hai also voiced hope that they will help to connect and further attract financial institutions and economic groups to seek investment opportunities in the southern metropolis.

He affirmed that the city continues to be aware of the major role of Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs, especially those living abroad, in terms of popularizing policies of the Party and laws of the State in general, as well as those of Ho Chi Minh City in particular, to international friends.

Mai Phan Dung, vice chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, stressed that the OV community, including OV entrepreneurs, represent abundant resources which need to be attracted in order to join hands in implementing the development tasks set for Ho Chi Minh City moving forward.

At the event, Vietnamese entrepreneurs from Poland, the UK, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), and Japan contributed their ideas to attract greater foreign investment and boost international ties whilst calling for and implementing projects in the fields of technology, renewable energy, and education.

They pledged to maintain support for the city during the process of realizing Resolution 98, along with serving as a bridge connecting the city with reliable international partners.
