HCM City seeks broader co-operation with Australian and NZ localities

VOV.VN - A delegation from Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council led by Nguyen Van Dung, vice chairman of the southern city’s People’s Council, is on a working visit to Australia and New Zealand with a view towards boost ties between the city and localities of the two nations.

During their trip to Australia, the delegation is set to hold working sessions alongside leaders of Melbourne and to promote linkages between the two cities on startups, innovation and creativity, urban planning, and sustainable urban development.

The Australia visit is designed to further boost the relationship that exists between Ho Chi Minh City and Melbourne, as well as with Victoria state in general.


According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, the southern city and Victoria State have signed a memorandum of understanding for co-operation to focus on fields such as hotel and tourism vocational training, innovation and startup, trade promotion, and urban development.

Following the Australia visit, the delegation will then travel to New Zealand where they are scheduled to meet with leaders of the Wellington Capital Council and NEC Group to gain experience in smart urban development.
