HCM City police crack large drug trafficking ring
The Drug Crime Investigation Department (PC47) under Ho Chi Minh City Police said on January 5 that they, in collaboration with the Investigation Police Department on Drug-Related Crimes (C47), had recently cracked down on a large drug trafficking ring.
They arrested eight persons involving in illegal drug trade and stockpile, and seized 26,300 ecstasy pills, nearly 14 kg of crystal meth, and 200 grams of ketamine.
The ring was led by La Van Hai, 46, who went to Cambodia to buy drugs and gave the contrabands to Nguyen Thanh Lam, 40, to sell in Vietnam. Both reside in Ho Chi Minh City.
They were nabbed with 10 kg of crystal meth and 20,000 ecstasy pills in front of Cho Ray hospital on Nguyen Chi Thanh street, Ward 12, District 5, on October 7, 2017.
Searching Hai’s house in District 11, police found 6,000 ecstasy pills and 3 kg of crystal meth.
Further investigating, the police also arrested six others who sold Hai’s drugs, and discovered 300 ecstasy pills, 200 grams of ketamine and 750 grams of crystal meth at their houses.
