HCM City launches campaign for donations to flood-hit areas
VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Relief Board launched a campaign on October 17 calling for donations to be made to residents suffering the effects of flooding in the nation’s central region.
The campaign aims to promote the tradition of solidarity and mutual affection between citizens from the southern city and those based in the flood-hit regions.
Campaigners have so far collected a huge amount of cash and goods worth a total of VND7.7 billion.
To support those in flood-hit areas, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has established a working group to visit and provide VND2.1 billion to local people in the central provinces to help them overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
With regard to the terms of the donation, a sum of VND500 million each will be handed over to Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh, and Quang Nam provinces, while both Quang Tri and Quang Ngai provinces will receive VND300 million each.
The committee says it will continue calling for support from people throughout the southern city.
