HCM City launches activities in response to World Environment Day
VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) in collaboration with the Indian Consulate General in HCM City, launched a program aimed at walking for the environment and planting more green trees in response to World Environment Day (June 5).
Nguyen Van Manh, HUFO Vice President emphasized that the program in response to World Environment Day has helped raise public awareness on environmental issues by taking drastic measures in their daily lives to reduce air pollution.
Manh noted that air pollutants have caused the global warming and made an overall impact on human health in the world.
The program also aims to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi, who had a strong belief in mankind’s responsibilities to create a sustainable planet.
On the occasion, HUFO Vice President Manh extended his thanks to the Indian Consulate General in HCM City for organising practical activities across the fields of culture, sports, and education.
He added that the activities have helped strengthen mutual understanding, solidarity, and traditional friendships among the people of HCM City and India.
Jeevan C. Kandpal, the Indian consul general in HCM City, underscored the significance of the program and praised the activities held to mark World Environment Day and to commemorate the Indian leader,Mahatma Gandhi.
