HCM City has only one COVID-19 patient under treatment

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s largest city has only one coronavirus case in need of medical treatment after a patient was discharged from Cu Chi field hospital on April 23

Cu Chi field hospital was set up on February 10 to receive and quarantine suspected cases of the coronavirus

The recovered patient, a 48-year-old Vietnamese man, is the car driver of two COVID-19 patients closely linked to Buddha Bar – a coronavirus hotspot in HCM City.

This is the last coronavirus patient released from Cu Chi field hospital, said Nguyen Thanh Dung, director of the hospital. He will be placed in quarantine at home for observation for another 14 days according to regulations.

Set up on February 10, the hospital had received and quarantined 560 people, including 38 confirmed patients and 108 suspected cases.

To date, a total of 53 patients have fully recovered and returned to their places of residence in HCM City. There is only one coronavirus patient left in the city, the British pilot, who is still relying on a respirator and ECMO therapy.

Overall, health facilities across the country have released 224 coronavirus patients after making a full recovery. The remaining 44 patients are receiving treatment at less than 10 health facilities.

April 23 is the second day in a row Vietnam has reported no new cases.
