HCM City accelerates anti-crime efforts

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City police, relevant forces and units have made great effort to combat crimes, which are happening in a complicated and sophisticated manner, causing great concerns for citizens and visitors.

Many citizens and visitors have recently been robbed in the centre of the city. For example, Grmanova ZuZana from Slovenska, Ryo Ichikawa from Japan and Alaa Mohammad Abdu Ali Aldoh from Egypt were snatched of their money and personal papers while walking along streets in Precinct 1.

Alaa Aldoh said she had felt so scared and sad because she lost all things, however, she got valuable support from citizens and local authorities and felt consoled after HCM City authorities had publicly apologized to her.

Aldoh said she still loves Ho Chi Minh City and its friendly people. She suggested that the city install more security cameras to help reduce street crimes.

Robbery and crimes have occurred complicatedly despite remarkable effort from local authorities. Every day, two and three foreigners and dozens of local people claimed with police for being robbed, snatched and stolen.

The Municipal Department of Police have dispatched more policemen from the Mobile Police force to suppress crimes and ensure safety citywide.

Policemen were assigned with additional patrols to control and suppress criminal activities, especially theft and property appropriation, in essential areas of the southern metropolis, according to Colonel Huynh Kim Thanh, head of the city’s Mobile Police unit.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Van Hung, deputy head of the Mobile Police regiment in HCM city called on all people in the society to join hands to further realise the city’s anti-crime campaign.

In order to achieve best outcomes, policemen are required to showcase complete responsibility and focus, while presenting decent attitude and manners when working with residents and competent authorities as well as strictly complying with protocols and the law, Hung said.

With sustained effort and strong determination of local authorities and people, social security and order in HCM City will soon be controlled, bringing a peaceful life to all people, Hung hoped.
