Hanoi tops list of world’s most air polluted cities today
VOV.VN - The air quality of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, reached an “unhealthy” level on October 7 morning, placing it at the top of the world’s most air polluted cities list.
According to data released by Switzerland-based air quality monitor IQAir AirVisual, the air quality index (AQI) in Hanoi at 8:50a.m. reached 174, representing an unhealthy level for humans.
Meanwhile, the PAM air quality system in the country also showed that various areas of the capital, including Chua Lang and Thanh Cong streets of Dong Da district, as well as Kim Ma and Doi Can streets of Ba Dinh district, witnessed poor air quality in the range of 160 to 183.
The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting informed that Hanoi and other northern provinces would continue to be affected by spells of dry and sunny weather, low humidity, along with a bit of fog in the mornings.
The weather pattern is therefore forecast to remain over the coming days, meaning that local residents are advised to refrain from venturing outside unless necessary. Adults, children, pregnant women, and individuals suffering from respiratory diseases have been recommended to wear masks and glasses in the event that they go outside.
Elsewhere, the AQI in Ho Chi Minh City also reached 147, placing the southern metropolis at seventh on the world’s most air polluted cities list.
