Hanoi to host Southeast Asia-Pacific audiovisual archive conference
VOV.VN - Hanoi is due to host the 25th conference of the Southeast Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) through both an online and in-person format from June 20 to June 25, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In line with the approved plan, the conference will run with the theme of “AV Archiving in Changing Times: Successes, Failures, and Challenges” and is scheduled to take place from June 23 to June 24. Indeed, there will be a major focus on the theory and practice of audiovisual archives in the field of cinema.
Along with from mentioning previous successes, the event will also not a number of failures and challenges, as well as experiences and solutions to these issues.
Both Vietnamese and international speakers will present approximately 20 papers at the event, which will see the participation of representatives from 33 film and audiovisual archive organisations from 23 SEAPAVAA member states. This is along with those from the embassies of SEAPAVAA member countries, foreign cultural centres, and other international organisations based in Hanoi.
Furthermore, there will be two seminars held on digital preservation, restoration, and the role of digital asset management for the national heritage archive, along with the preservation of analog films.
Moreover, the SEAPAVAA’s 25th General Assembly will consider admitting new members, whilst also amending, supplementing, and approving the statutes of the association.
Before and during the conference, there will be a range of activities held to introduce the country’s cinematic achievements and audiovisual archive activities. This will be done alongside promoting the country’s image of land, people, culture, and tourism potential to international friends, including a Vietnamese and international film week and a Vietnam cinema exhibition which will run from June 21 to June 25 in Hanoi.
Originally founded in 1996, SEAPAVAA is an association of organisations and individuals involved in, or interested in, the development of audiovisual archiving in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region as a means of preserving and providing access to the region’s rich audiovisual heritage.
