Hanoi to host National Festival for Artificial Intelligence 2019 in mid-August

VOV.VN - Vietnam is widely considered to be one of the leading nations for keeping up with the latest Industry 4.0 technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), said  Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy.

Deputy Minister Duy made the statement during a press conference to unveil the national festival for Artificial Intelligence (AI4VN 2019) in Hanoi on July 31.

According to the official, Vietnam has yet to acquire sufficient resources to focus on developing completely new technology such as AI, which requires the support of individuals, businesses and research units.

Duy emphasised that AI is regarded as one of the core technologies of Industry 4.0, not only in the country but also worldwide. Several nations have begun putting their efforts into the impending development trend with the technology expected to have a huge impact on all aspects of society, economics, military, and politics.

Within this context, the AI4VN2019 is expected to provide a foundation and give impetus to the development of AI technology nationwide through strengthening connectivity among agencies such as research institutes, universities, businesses, technological groups, and the start-up community.

 The AI4VN, which is scheduled to take place from August 15 to August 16, will see six reports from the world’s leading speakers in the field of AI, technology, and start-ups such as Dr. Ulli Waltinger of Siemens, Associate Professor Stefano Ermon from Stanford University in the United States and the co-founder of Angry Bird, Peter Vesterbacka.

The opening session on August 15 will see roundtable discussions among the leading technological CEOs from the country including FPT and VinAI on the future development of the nation’s AI industry and solutions on how to spur growth in the sector.
