Nhon Station open its doors on January 23 to local residents to visit the first train of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line. At 09.00am many people who registered to visit the train are present at Station S1. Without a babysitter, this woman brings her small child with her to the station, hoping to see with her own eyes the first metro train of the capital city. Before boarding the train, visitors listen to a representative of the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) talk about the rules. As part of the rules, visitors are required to wear face masks and low heeled shoes. Those with backpacks or travel bags are not allowed to get on the train; instead they are required to send their belongings to the luggage counter. The visitors are required not to touch the train’s equipment while on board the train and not to go beyond the designated area for tour. People do not forget to take a memorable photo “I am happy that my online application has been accepted by the MRB. This is the first time I have seen such a modern train. I believe the first metro line will receive public support when it is operational,” says Do Quyen, one of the visitors on tour. The MRB says the station opens its doors to visitors from 9am to 3pm on January 23-24 only. The whole line is designed to house 10 such trains, with each capable of transporting between 944 and 1,124 passengers per day and running at a speed of 35kmph on average. The 12.5-km metro route runs from Nhon Town in Nam Tu Liem District to Hanoi Railway Station in Dong Da District.
