Hanoi police arrest transporters with over 16.3 kg of heroin
Hanoi’s narcotics police have caught two men for illegally transporting a large amount of heroin from the mountainous Northwest for retail dealers in the capital city.
Ta Anh Tuan, 38, and Nguyen Hong Quan, 35, both from Hanoi, were arrested when carrying 47 cakes of heroin, weighing more than 16.3 kilogrammes, and about 19.7 grammes of methamphetamine during the drug squad police’s operation on December 5.
Their pickup truck was stopped by the police in Tay Dang township, Ba Vi district of Hanoi at 5:00 am while they were on the way to bring the drugs from Son La to Hanoi.
Tuan and Quan told the police that they were hired by someone from Loong Luong commune, Van Ho district of Son La to transport the drugs for VND120 million (US$5,280).
The case is under further investigation.
