Hanoi capital to vaccinate children against COVID-19 soon
VOV.VN - Hanoi capital will vaccinate high school students against COVID-19 as soon as it receive vaccines from the Ministry of Health in one or two days, said Mayor Chu Ngoc Anh.
Meeting with voters in Dong Da district on November 19, Anh said the city has developed plans to inoculate children aged 12 to 17, but vaccines are yet to arrive and the city is awaiting allocations from the Ministry of Health
The city is set to receive more than 370,000 vaccine doses from the Ministry of Health in one or two days, and the vaccination campaign for high school students will be completed within two days, Anh told voters.
Vaccinated students will be allowed to return to school, and “this matter cannot be delayed any longer,” according to the Mayor.
Hanoi has closed schools of all grades since mid-May when the virus recurred in the locality, and offered online learning instead. However, distance learning has proved ineffective and caused exhaustion for both teachers and students, as well as students’ parents.
Early this month, the city allowed schools in safe outlying districts to receive back students, but the resurgence of the virus later forced the municipal administration to reverse the decision.
