Hanoi campaign against dengue, Zika virus

VOV.VN -  On September 16,  a campaign against dengue and Zika virus disease was launched by Hanoi’s Health Department and authorities of the outlying district of Hoai Duc.

The department called for greater participation of local authorities and agencies in the combined efforts to combat the disease.

An environment clean-up drive began after the launch focusing on raising the public awareness about precautionary measures, residential areas, schools and epidemic hotbeds.

According to the ministry’s Department of Preventive Medicine, since early this yeasr, more than 65,330 dengue fever cases were reported.

The department underlined the need to monitor infection cases, take more samples to promptly discover new infections, and working hand in hand with the media centre for health education to get relevant information. 

In the capital city alone, 1,084 in 29 districts and communes suffered from dengue, down 46% from 2015. Hoai Duc district discovered 162 dengue cases with 27 hotbeds. 

However, no Zika virus case has been recorded in Hanoi so far.
