Hanoi police rescued an 11-year-old boy from kidnappers on November 19 morning and returned him to his mother in Ha Dong District.
The kidnappers, both 21, are being held in custody pending further investigations.
The boy, a student from Nguyen Trai Junior High School in the district, was kidnapped on the way to his tutor for extra classes on November 18.
His mother said she received phone calls on November 18 afternoon from kidnappers asking for ransom of VND200 million (US$9,600).
On her relatives’ advice, she reported the case to district police.
Police investigators later found the kidnappers and the boy at Hoang Long Hostel in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.
