Hanoi AI camera system detects over 19,000 traffic violations after three months
VOV.VN - Hanoi’s AI-powered camera system detected 19,304 traffic violations after three months of operation, mainly involving failure to comply with traffic lights, not wearing helmets and not wearing seat belts, the Hanoi Traffic Police Office has reported.
All violations were reviewed, documented and notices issued with a 100% rate, thereby ensuring timely and accurate handling.
Since January 1, 2026, Hanoi police have piloted fully online administrative handling via the iHanoi application. A total of 7,810 cases have been integrated into the system, allowing residents to finalize procedures entirely online.
For traffic management, the center operates 1,837 AI cameras connected to traffic signals at 195 key intersections, enabling real-time traffic coordination. Operations have been adjusted at 188 intersections, while 22 “green wave” corridors have been maintained along major routes.
A total of 446 signal timing adjustments were made, and 575 technical issues were resolved to ensure stable and continuous operation.
Traffic flow at intersections improved by between 4% and over 18%. High-traffic junctions such as Vo Chi Cong and Nguyen Thai Hoc–Ton Duc Thang maintained stable improvements of between 6% and 11%, showing the effectiveness of the model.
The system also recorded violations involving illegal stopping and parking on roads and sidewalks, and provided more than 1,000 images related to urban order and environmental sanitation for handling by local relevant agencies.
In addition, digital maps integrating 266 traffic diversion points and 108 flood-prone locations enabled traffic management measures, contributing to congestion mitigation and improved urban management efficiency.
