Ha Tinh to bury remains of 8 Vietnamese martyrs repatriated from Laos
VOV.VN - Central Ha Tinh province is preparing to receive and bury the remains of eight Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during wartime missions.
According to provincial authorities, the remains were found by a special search and recovery team under the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command in Laos’ Vientiane and Bolikhamsai Province during the 2025–2026 dry season.
From May 20 to 24, a provincial delegation will travel to Laos to hold talks with the special task committees of Vientiane and Bolikhamsai before formally receiving the remains of the eight martyrs.
A memorial and handover ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 24 at Cau Treo International Border Gate, with the participation of border guards, customs officials and local authorities.
Later the same day, the martyrs’ remains will be transported to Son Tay commune for local residents to pay tribute before being taken to Nam Martyrs Cemetery in Tu My commune. A requiem ceremony will be held at the cemetery at 8 p.m. on May 24.
The official memorial and burial service for the eight martyrs is set for 8 a.m. on May 25 at Nam Martyrs Cemetery, jointly organised by the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command and relevant agencies.
Earlier on April 17, Ha Tinh’s Steering Committee 515 held a meeting to review preparations and ensure the ceremonies would be conducted in a solemn and respectful manner, reflecting Vietnam’s tradition of honouring those who sacrificed for the nation.
