Ha Tinh endures sharp increase in number of dengue fever cases

Since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded over 144 cases of dengue fever. Despite the sharp rise, fortunately there have been no deaths reported as a result of dengue fever.

Outbreaks have been detected in Thach Long commune of Thach Ha district, Huong Khe town in Huong Khe district, Cam Nhuong commune in Cam Xuyen district, Xuan Hoi commune in Nghi Xuan district, and Tung Loc commune in Can Loc district.

According to the provincial authorities, this increase can be attributed to a lack of awareness among local people about the dangers of the disease. Many residents have yet to take environmental sanitation measures aimed at eliminating mosquito larvae.

In order to better deal with the situation, the Ha Tinh provincial health department has requested that local health centres take steps to spread information on the disease as a preventive action.

This can be done as a means of boosting public awareness on the issue whilst encouraging people to clean the local environment, eradicate mosquito larva, classify patients correctly so they can receive the right form of treatment, and spray chemicals in a bid to prevent the further spread of the disease.
