Grab provides free transport services to medical staff in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Ride-hailing firm Grab Vietnam has launched a Medical GrabCar team to transport medical staff around Hanoi free of charge.

The team consists of a total of 40 vehicles and offers free services to medical staff who want to move to medical establishments, including places such as testing centres, or are simply returning home.

According to Nguyen Thai Hai Van, CEO of Grab Vietnam, all of the team’s drivers are volunteers, who are provided with COVID-19 knowledge and medical protective equipment as well.

Van said Grab is also working alongside the Department of Transport and the Hanoi Department of Health in order to deploy a fleet of emergency GrabCar teams who can take COVID-19 patients to hospital and bring them back home free of charge. The service is expected to be implemented in September.

A 100-member Medical GrabCar team has also been established in Ho Chi Minh City to offer similar services from August 20 to September 15 when the city is implemented the extended social distancing measures.

Several days ago, Gojek, another ride-hailing firm in Vietnam, launched the GoCar service, with 50 vehicles offering free rides to doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to and from three intensive care units, the municipal department of health, and the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control.
