Government determined to pursue comprehensive digital transformation revolution

VOV.VN - Digital transformation is an inevitable trend, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority for rapid and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made these remarks at an event held to celebrate National Digital Transformation Day 2024 which was launched on October 12 in Hanoi and connected online from the Government headquarters to 63 provinces and cities throughout the country.

In his speech, the Government chief emphasized the State’s determination to pursue the digital transformation revolution in a profound, comprehensive, substantive, and effective manner in order to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, improve people's material and spiritual life, and modernize national governance, thus bringing about greater benefits to all people and the nation as a whole.

Digital transformation is the cause of the entire Party, army, and people, contributing to realizing the aspiration of building a strong and prosperous country with people enjoying a happy life, whilst leaving no one behind in the new era, which can be viewed as the era of national development, he went on to say.

PM Chinh shared several major features of the current international and regional context and situation, along with the issues of war and conflict, geopolitical tensions, strategic competition, and emerging trends that have had an impact on all countries and economies. This includes digital transformation, green transformation, climate change response, connectivity between economies, especially infrastructure connectivity, transport connectivity, and digital connectivity; as well as harmonious, sustainable, and inclusive development.

The Government leader pointed out, "to combine the strength of the nation and the strength of the times, internal and external strength, we cannot stand outside the general trend of the world."

Reality shows that the country is on the right track with a major focus on promoting digital transformation, green transformation, and infrastructure development, which has brought very clear benefits to the nation and people.

Recently, Party General Secretary and President To Lam wrote an article on digital transformation to call on the whole country to focus on promoting digital transformation, he added.

On April 22, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 505 designating October 10 every year as National Digital Transformation Day with a view to accelerating the implementation of national digital transformation tasks, along with the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025 with a vision towards 2030.

It is also designed to raise public awareness among all of society about the role, the significance, and benefits of digital transformation; promote the participation of the entire political system; encourage synchronous actions at all levels; and the involvement of the entire population to ensure the success of digital transformation.

The cabinet leader stressed that if digital transformation is done well, the country’s ranking in the world in digital transformation will further increase as a  contribution to building and developing the national brand, thereby further promoting and attracting the best possible kind of investment.

He pointed out that the three breakthroughs in digital transformation are digital institutions, digital infrastructure, and digital people, all of which require active participation, especially from leaders at all levels and sectors. At the same time, there must be no shortage of electricity or telecommunications signals, especially in remote areas.

At the event, leaders of ministries, sectors, organizations, and enterprises alongside outstanding members of the Community Digital Technology Group focused on fully and objectively assessing the results achieved in national digital transformation this year, especially in terms of the digital economy.

The also proposed strategic orientations, viewpoints, tasks, and major solutions on digital transformation and digital economic development in the time ahead.
