Giant Chung cake commemorates Hung Kings’ Festival
VOV.VN - A 2.5-tonne Chung cake (square glutinous rice cake) was made by 50 artisans at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Ho Chi Minh City on April 13-15 to commemorate Hung Kings’ Festival, which falls on the 10th day of the third lunar month (April 16).
Artisans prepared 1.2 tonnes of glutinous rice, |
300kg of mung beans, |
200kg of pork, |
and 300kg of banana leaves to make Chung cake. |
The cake is 60cm high. |
It took 70 hours to cook the giant cake. |
The well-done cake will be taken out at 10pm on April 15. |
The giant Chung cake will be offered to Hung Kings from 8am on April 16 to 10am on April 17. |
After that the cake will be cut into small pieces for around 1,000 people. |
