Germany donates nano-tech water purifiers to central provinces
VOV.VN - Dr. Kambiz Ghawami, president of the World University Service (WUS), donated 20 nano-technology water purifiers from the German state of Sachsen-Anhalt on December 17 to local people impacted by recent flooding in central provinces such as Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, and Hoi An ancient town.
The purifiers are due to be sent via a repatriation flight that is scheduled to bring Vietnamese citizens home from Germany.
Furthermore, Dr. Ghawami emphasised that these water purifiers represent meaningful gifts organised by Pro. Dr. Armin Willingmann, minister of Economy, Science and Digitalization from the Sachsen-Anhalt State, with the aim of helping flood victims in central Vietnamese provinces overcome the consequences of the recent historic flooding to hit the region.
Upon their arrival in the nation, the PAUL water purifiers will be transferred to schools located in the hardest-hit areas throughout the central region.
Moreover, Dr. Ghawami explained that the gift signifies the solidarity between both countries during this challenging period, noting that with Germany facing a shortage of masks in April, the Vietnamese Government and members of overseas Vietnamese community in Germany offered over 120,000 face masks to hospitals and humanitarian facilities in the Central European nation.
Most notably, the state of Sachsen-Anhalt has so far donated 61 PAUL water purifiers to the Southeast Asian country via WUS, with a range of humanitarian activities conducted in recent years.
The WUS has also granted a total of 210 water purifiers in an effort to help approximately 110,000 students, teachers, and residents in remote and isolated areas gain access to clean drinking water each day.
