Frost covers Fansipan Mt. peak again on last day of 2024

The frost covered the wooden floors and vegetation at the top of Fansipan that stands 3,143 metres above sea level, as the temperature at the Fansipan peak was recorded at -1°C at 5a.m., said the management board of Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area.

This marks the third frost of the winter season on Fansipan this year. 

Local meteorologists predicted that during the first days of 2025, the temperature at the summit would continue to remain low, and frost may appear in the mornings.

According to the Lao Cai Meteorological Center, the cold air mass from the North caused a significant temperature drop in many areas of Lao Cai province on December 31, with temperatures falling by 7 to 10°C.

The weather became particularly cold in high-altitude areas like Sa Pa, a famous tourist report in northern Vietnam. In Sa Pa, temperatures dropped below 5°C, and at the summit of Fansipan, temperatures fell below 0°C, resulting in a white frost covering the ground and vegetation.

Sa Pa will host many New Year 2025 events as part of the Spring Festival to welcome both domestic and international tourists. Among them were a special Art Programme, a New Year Countdown, and a ceremony to welcome the first tourists of the year to the locality.

Most notably, the New Year 2025 fireworks display will take place at 0:00 on January 1, 2025, at Sa Pa Stadium.
