Friendship associations of Vietnam and Thailand bolster friendship and cooperation
VOV.VN - The Vietnam–Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand–Vietnam Friendship Association on May 21 convened a high-level meeting in Bangkok, reaffirming their commitment to deepening friendship between both nations’ people and beefing up more inclusive and sustainable cooperation.
Those in attendance at the meeting included Sanan Angubolkul, Charman of the Thailand–Vietnam Friendship Association; Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam–Thailand Friendship Association; executive members of both associations; and represe.ntatives from various Vietnamese and Thai businesses and corporations
In his address, Sanan Angubolkul emphasized that 2025 marks a significant milestone as Vietnam and Thailand officially upgrade their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He underscored the proactive role of the friendship associations in promoting meaningful initiatives, including the commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh’s 135th birthday, the Vietnam–Thailand Business Forum, and the U17 National Women’s Football Tournament.
The efforts are in line with the “three- connections” strategy by connecting supply chains, linking local economies, and boosting sustainable development.
“In 2026, our two associations will jointly organize major events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Vietnam. Together, we will continue intensifying practical activities that reinforce long-standing friendship between our peoples. The efforts of our associations lay a firm foundation for a future built on trust, prosperity, and heartfelt ties,” Sanan stated.
Nguyen Van Thanh echoed this sentiment, affirming that the upgraded partnership marks a new chapter in bilateral relations.
The upgrade of bilateral relations between the two countries reaffirms the extensive and multi-dimensional cooperation the two countries across all fields, including politics, economics, national defence, security, foreign affairs, and science and technology. This is an objective necessity within the framework of their strategic relations, ushering the two nations into a new phase of development. In both state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, our two friendship associations take great pride in having made positive contributions to the upgraded relationship. ” Thanh said.
The executive boards of both sides pledged to maintain close coordination in preparation for the 14th joint meeting, set to take place in Vietnam, and to work together in organizing various activities in celebration of 50 years of diplomatic ties (August 6, 1976 – August 6, 2026).
On this occasion, enterprises from both countries were actively involved in networking, product promotion, and business matching, helping to enhance economic cooperation and further cement bilateral relations.
