FPT becomes Qualcomm’s first Vietnamese partner in automotive technology

VOV.VN - Vietnam's key technology firm FPT and Qualcomm, the world’s leading semiconductor company, signed a Technical Assistance and Development Agreement on February 10 to advance automotive technology solutions for the global market.

Under the agreement, FPT will gain direct access to Qualcomm’s latest chips and platforms, while positioning it as Qualcomm’s first partner under this collaboration model in Vietnam and the second in Southeast Asia in the automotive sector.

As Qualcomm’s Official Partner, FPT can directly tap into Qualcomm’s latest technologies and engineering resources, enabling faster and more comprehensive technical support for its worldwide customer base. FPT’s engineering teams will be able to develop, optimise, and validate solutions directly on Qualcomm technologies, accelerating co‑creation efforts and strengthening go‑to‑market readiness for a wide range of AI-driven automotive applications.

Qualcomm is rapidly expanding its operations in Vietnam, with recent investments and the launch of an AI R&D Centre in Hanoi focused on generative and agentic AI. As Vietnam’s leading technology corporation, FPT aims to support Qualcomm’s R&D expansion in Vietnam and across the wider APAC region through its scalable delivery capabilities, deep domain expertise, and a strong local talent ecosystem combining FPT’s global workforce with its university talent pipeline.

This collaboration also aligns with FPT’s strategic commitment to AI and semiconductor as core technologies. Its AI platform FleziPT, together with AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, provides the platform and computing foundation enterprises need for large-scale training and inference, strengthened by a global network of over 25,000 AI-augmented engineers and its Quantum AI and Cyber Security Research Institute.

"As global demand for advanced automotive capabilities continues to grow, FPT is expanding our delivery scale, automotive know-how, AI expertise and cross-domain experience to address this evolving need. Combining these strengths with Qualcomm’s advanced platforms and leading-edge solutions, we are well-positioned to deliver faster, more efficient, and globally scalable solutions for customers worldwide,” said Kinh Nguyen, FPT Software EVP and FPT Automotive Chief Executive Officer, FPT Corporation.

“Vietnam is a strategic growth market for Qualcomm as we continue expanding our AI and semiconductor footprint in the region. Our collaboration with FPT reflects strong confidence in their engineering excellence, automotive expertise, and ability to deliver at a global scale. Together with FPT, we expect to accelerate the development and commercialization of innovative solutions built on Qualcomm platforms, bringing advanced technologies to market faster for enterprises around the world,” said Nam Thieu, Country Director, Qualcomm Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
