FPT ships first commercial semiconductor chips to Japan
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s FPT Corporation on December 30 announced the delivery of its first shipment of commercial semiconductor chips to a leading Japanese electronics company via Restar, one of Japan’s top electronics distributors.
The shipment marks an initial step toward FPT’s goal of exporting chips designed by the group to markets across the Asia-Pacific region.
The power management chips supplied to Japan were custom-designed for high-performance multifunction printers (MFPs) used in office and enterprise environments. The chips help regulate and stabilize internal power supply, protect components from voltage and current fluctuations, and ensure stable operation under high-load conditions.
The delivery represents the practical implementation of a cooperation agreement previously signed between FPT and Restar in the presence of senior government leaders from both countries. Under the agreement, Restar aims to distribute 10 million chips designed and manufactured by FPT over the next three years across the Asia–Pacific market.
Following the first shipment, FPT and Restar will continue working on subsequent deliveries to fulfill the contract. The two sides are also studying the development of new semiconductor products tailored to Japanese market demand, including next-generation power management chips, control chips and integrated circuits for office equipment, imaging devices and consumer electronics.
Tran Dang Hoa, Chairman of FPT IS and FPT Semiconductor, said the first commercial chip export to Japan marked an important milestone for FPT and demonstrated Vietnamese capabilities in core technology development.
FPT expects the initial shipment to pave the way for wider adoption of Vietnamese-designed chips in consumer electronics, office equipment, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and industrial applications.
