Four Vietnamese universities climb in CWUR global rankings

VOV.VN - Four of the six Vietnamese universities ranked among the world's top 10% by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) improved their positions in this year's rankings.

Duy Tan University climbed 33 places and entered the world’s top 4.4%, maintaining its position as the highest-ranked Vietnamese university on the CWUR list.

The biggest improvement came from Hanoi Medical University, which rose 44 places to rank 1,835th globally. Meanwhile, Ton Duc Thang University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology advanced by 9 and 19 places, respectively.

In contrast, Vietnam’s two national universities both slipped in the rankings. Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City dropped by more than 90 places to 1,367th, while Vietnam National University Hanoi fell three spots.

Globally, the top five universities remained unchanged from the previous year, with institutions from the United States and the United Kingdom dominating the rankings. They are Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of Cambridge and University of Oxford.

Based in Saudi Arabia, CWUR evaluated more than 21,200 higher education institutions and ranked the top 2,000 worldwide. Its methodology focuses on four indicators, including Education, Employability, Faculty, and Research, with research accounting for the largest share at 40%.

In Asia, Vietnam had 11 universities in this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, up two from last year, while 13 Vietnamese institutions were featured in the latest subject rankings by QS Quacquarelli Symonds.
